Public transportation in Braga offers options for getting around the city and beyond.

The Transportes Urbanos de Braga (TUB) operates an extensive bus network that covers most areas of the city, providing frequent and reliable service. In addition to buses, Braga is served by a modern train station with regular connections to Porto and other regional destinations.

The city also supports alternative transportation methods, including bike-sharing programs and pedestrian-friendly pathways, enhancing overall mobility. Whether you’re commuting, exploring, or travelling to nearby towns, Braga’s public transportation system ensures convenient and accessible travel.

  • Braga is served by various bus companies providing local buses and long-distance buses connecting Braga to other cities. If you don’t have a rental car, you must take a bus to Bom Jesus, Mosteiro de São Martinho de Tibães and Braga Stadium, among others.

    • LOCAL BUS

    Local buses in Braga are run by Transportes Urbanos de Braga (TUB) (www.tub.pt). All information, maps and how to buy tickets are available on the website and in the corresponding app. In general, buses run from 7 am-9 pm, but many services to the city's outskirts don’t run on weekends or public holidays. There are 1-day, 2-day and 3-day tourist tickets available. Tickets cost from 1.55-2 Euros depending on the travel zone.

    • LONG DISTANCE BUS

    Braga Bus Station is 500m north of Praça da República on Avenida General Norton de Matos. RedeExpressos, Rodonorte, TransDev, Arriva and EBA are the major bus companies that operate services. Fairly frequent buses make the 2 hours 40 minute journey between Braga and Coimbra. Buses to Porto with Renex and RedeExpressos are every 30 minutes and take 60-70 minutes. There are 8-11 buses daily to Lisbon (approx. 4 hours 30 minutes). There are also bus connections to Viana do Castelo (90 minutes), Guimarães (50 minutes), Viseu (3 hours), Póvoa de Varzim (1 hour) and Barcelos (1 hour). The services are reduced on weekends and holidays.
