Immigration
Welcome to your new journey! Our onboarding process is designed to make your immigration experience smooth and stress-free. Please follow these simple steps to get started:
Immigration - What do you do?
If you are coming to work from a non-European country, you must apply for a Residence Visa to enter Portugal.
When taking care of the Visa, you should apply to pursue research, teaching in a higher education institution or highly qualified activity (without any cost) – D3.
Applications must be submitted to a Portuguese diplomatic representative, who will then analyse and issue a final decision.
+ Usually, the necessary documents are:
Application form;
Valid travel document (+ 3 months after the intended date of departure);
Two identical photographs, passport size, on a white plain background with good quality;
Travel insurance for at least 120 days that cover any expenses which might arise, including urgent medical attention and repatriation;
Criminal record certificate from country of origin or from the country where the applicant has lived for more than a year;
Documents proving the applicant has accommodation (Invitation Letter provided by INL);
Documents proving that the applicant possesses sufficient income, Portaria nr. 1563/2007, 11th December and Portaria nr. 760/2009, 16th July.
This information does not replace a consultation with a competent diplomatic representation. Other documentation may be asked for according to the requirements of local consular cooperation.
To facilitate this process, INL will issue an invitation letter* and a verbal note, and we will formally request the assistance of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
For the invitation letter, you must send HR a copy of your passport (cover included) and inform them where you will apply for your visa.
