/ To do’s for newcomers

When you accept the job offer to work at INL, it’s important to move forward with your Onboarding. The first step is to prepare and send through the R&S digital platform the following documents:

  • Passport or National identity card;

  • Proof of the current residence from Parish or Finance Services (duly translated in English, Portuguese or Spanish);

  • Family Certificates (marriage, common-couple union and/or childbirth) if applicable;

  • A digital photo of yourself for the temporary badge;

  • Registration Form.

Tax Registration

If you are a newcomer from a foreign country, one of the most important tasks to take upon arrival in Portugal is getting the Portuguese Tax Identification Number (NIF). The NIF, also known as contribution number (Número de Contribuinte), is a personal number that represents you in the Portuguese Authorities. This number is mandatory for INL to proceed with your enrollment in Portuguese Social Security. It’s also mandatory for your settlement in Braga (rental contract, bank account, housing services, etc.).

To get your NIF, HR will schedule an appointment at the Portuguese Finance Services and inform you of the time and date. On the day, you will be accompanied by our Legal Services, who will support you during this process.

HR will prepare the required documents, but you will still need to bring with you your passport and visa, if applicable.
